Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Shannon Formby covering your use of the app. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
Effective date: August 10, 2026
Welcome to My Faith Journey. These terms are an agreement between you and Shannon Formby (“we,” “us”) covering your use of the My Faith Journey app. By using the app, you agree to them.
1. What My Faith Journey is
My Faith Journey is a private space for small circles to pray, reflect, and encourage one another. It is a tool for community and spiritual practice — it is not a counseling, medical, or emergency service.
If you are in crisis or someone is in danger, call 911, or call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). My Faith Journey is not a substitute for professional help.
2. Your account
The app uses anonymous device-based sign-in, with an option to sign in with Apple so your account survives a new phone or reinstall. You’re responsible for the device you use with My Faith Journey. Choose an honest display name — your circle should know who you are.
You must be at least 13 years old to use My Faith Journey. If you are under 18, see Section 6.
3. Your content
You own what you write. By posting content in the app, you give us the limited license needed to store it, display it to the people you’ve chosen to share it with, and operate features like reminders, notifications, and “On This Day” memories. We claim no other rights to your prayers, journal entries, or messages.
You’re responsible for what you post.
4. Community standards — zero tolerance for objectionable content
My Faith Journey exists so people can be honest about hard things and be met with love. Protecting that requires a firm line. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior on My Faith Journey.
You agree not to post, send, or share content that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates any person;
- expresses hatred toward or demeans a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age, including the use of slurs;
- is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualizes a minor in any way;
- promotes or encourages self-harm, suicide, violence, or illegal activity;
- is unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent;
- shares another person’s private information without their consent;
- infringes anyone’s intellectual property; or
- is spam, advertising, or solicitation.
Being open about your own struggles — including addiction, abuse you have suffered, sexual sin, depression, or suicidal thoughts — is welcome and is precisely what My Faith Journey is for. This section prohibits content that attacks or degrades other people, not honest confession or a request for prayer.
Enforcement. Every member can report content from the ⋯ menu on any post and can block any member at any time. We review reports within 24 hours. Content that violates these standards is removed, and accounts responsible for violations may be suspended or permanently terminated without notice and without refund. Repeat or egregious violations — and any content that sexualizes a minor — result in immediate, permanent removal and may be reported to law enforcement.
The app also automatically screens posts for slurs, explicit sexual content, and threatening language before they are published.
By using My Faith Journey you agree to these standards. You must accept them in the app before you can post.
5. Circles and leaders
Anyone can create a circle and invite others with an invite code. Circle creators (and co-leaders they appoint) have access to leadership tools, including activity signals about their circle’s members, the ability to set a weekly prayer focus, memory verse, and daily questions, and the ability to remove members. Being a leader is a role of care — use it that way.
Leaders cannot see anyone’s private prayers or private journal entries.
6. Circles with leaders under 18
For church, school, and ministry leaders: this section describes the specific protections that apply when minors use My Faith Journey. It is the section to read before approving this app for a youth group or student ministry.
When someone creates a circle, they must choose whether it is for adults or for students under 18. This choice is made at creation and cannot be changed afterward — a student circle can never be quietly converted into an adult circle.
Student circles are peer-only for one-to-one conversations. My Faith Journey includes a “walking partners” feature, in which a leader pairs two members to walk together and gives that pair a private conversation that no one else can read. In a student circle:
- A leader or co-leader can never be a member of a walking pair. Students are paired only with other students.
- This is enforced by the app’s security rules on the server, not merely hidden in the app’s screens. An adult cannot place themselves into a private one-to-one conversation with a student by any means available in the product.
- A visible record is kept of which leader created each pairing, and it is shown to every leader of that circle.
- Every private conversation displays a permanent notice stating exactly who can read it.
Adults in a student circle can still lead: they set the circle’s prayer focus, memory verse, and daily questions, they see the circle’s shared prayer requests, and they can send encouragement to any member. What they cannot do is be alone with a minor in a conversation nobody else can see.
Other protections that apply to every circle, including student circles: there is no public feed and no way to discover or contact strangers — membership requires an invite code from someone already in the circle. All posts are automatically screened for slurs, sexually explicit language, and threatening content before publication. Any member can report content or block another member at any time. Reports reach us directly and are reviewed within 24 hours.
Parents and guardians with questions or concerns about a student’s use of My Faith Journey may contact us at info@myfaithjourneyapp.com, and may request deletion of their child’s account and content at any time.
My Faith Journey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly permit anyone under 13 to use it.
7. Scripture
Scripture quotations are from the New American Standard Bible® (NASB), used by permission of The Lockman Foundation (www.lockman.org). Scripture text may not be extracted from the app for republication.
8. The service
My Faith Journey is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it available and your data safe, but we can’t promise uninterrupted service, and we may add, change, or remove features as the app grows. We may update these terms; meaningful changes will be noted in the app, and continued use means acceptance.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months (for a free account, nothing).
9. Plans and subscriptions
My Faith Journey is free to download and use. Members, and anyone invited into a circle, never pay.
Leaders — the people who own and run circles — get the full set of leader tools free for their first 30 days. After that, keeping the ongoing leader tools, or growing beyond a small circle, takes an optional paid plan. If a small circle is all you need, the app stays free.
Paid plans are auto-renewable subscriptions, offered monthly or yearly and billed through your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before it ends. You can view, change, or cancel it anytime in your Apple Account settings; canceling stops the next renewal, and you keep access through the period you have paid for.
Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by region. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under your App Store account terms.
Losing a plan never deletes anything you have written. A plan controls what you can create and change going forward — never the prayers, journal entries, or messages already in the app.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using My Faith Journey at any time. You can permanently delete your account and content from inside the app — Members screen → “Delete my account” — or by contacting us (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
